Tinidazole is an antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent. The nitro group of tinidazole can be reduced by Trichomonas vaginalis cell extracts, and the resulting free nitro group exhibits antiprotozoal activity.
Primary Indications
1. This product is indicated for the treatment of the following conditions:
Trichomoniasis, giardiasis, amoebiasis, bacterial vaginosis, and in combination with antibiotics and antacids for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori-associated duodenal ulcers and anaerobic infections.
2. This product is indicated for the prevention of anaerobic postoperative infections, such as those occurring following colonic, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary surgery.
The Main Contraindication To Medication
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to tinidazole or other pyrrole derivatives, hypersensitivity to any other constituents of this product, or those with organic central nervous system disorders. As with other structurally similar drugs, contraindicated in patients with a history of blood disorders or cachexia. Although no cases of long-term haematological disorders have been identified in current animal or clinical studies. Contraindicated in pregnant women during the first trimester (first three months of pregnancy). Contraindicated in lactating women unless breastfeeding is suspended during metronidazole treatment and for three days after discontinuation.
