Cefoxitinn for Injection is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that exerts a bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It is effective against Gram-positive bacteria, certain Gram-negative bacteria, and anaerobic bacteria. It is commonly used to treat infections caused by susceptible organisms, including those affecting the respiratory tract, abdomen, urinary system, and gynaecological tract.

Primary Indications

Indicated for the treatment of the following infections caused by susceptible organisms:

Upper and lower respiratory tract infections; urinary tract infections including uncomplicated gonorrhoea; peritonitis and other intra-abdominal and pelvic infections; septicaemia (including typhoid fever); gynaecological infections; bone, joint and soft tissue infections; endocarditis.

Due to its efficacy against anaerobic bacteria and stability against beta-lactamases, this product is particularly suitable for mixed aerobic and anaerobic infections, as well as infections caused by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria susceptible to this product.

This product is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to this product or to cephalosporin antibiotics.
