Ceftriaxone is a long-acting, broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic that exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting cell wall synthesis. It possesses potent bactericidal activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

Primary Indications

Indicated for respiratory tract infections (particularly pneumonia), ear, nose and throat infections (such as acute otitis media), urinary tract infections, septicaemia, meningitis, bone and joint infections, skin and soft tissue infections, intra-abdominal infections (peritonitis, biliary tract and gastrointestinal infections), and genital tract infections including gonorrhoea caused by susceptible pathogens. May also be used for prophylaxis against infection prior to surgery.

The Main Contraindication To Medication

This product is contraindicated in patients with a known allergy to cephalosporin antibiotics.
