It is a lipid-regulating agent belonging to the class of clofibric acid derivatives, indicated for hyperlipidaemia.

The Main Contraindication To Medication

1. Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to gemfibrozil.

2. Contraindicated in patients with gallbladder disease or cholelithiasis, as this product may exacerbate symptoms of gallbladder disorders.

3. Contraindicated in patients with hepatic insufficiency or primary biliary cirrhosis, as this product may promote increased cholesterol excretion, elevating already elevated cholesterol levels.

4. Contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment, as administration may lead to rhabdomyolysis and severe hyperkalaemia in such patients; also contraindicated in patients with serum protein depletion due to nephrotic syndrome, owing to increased risk of myopathy.
