Cefpirome is a broad-spectrum fourth-generation cephalosporin that exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting the biosynthesis of bacterial cell walls.


Primary Indications

This product is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including lower respiratory tract infections (pneumonia and bronchitis), uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections and complicated urinary tract infections (including pyelonephritis), uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections, complicated intra-abdominal infections (including peritonitis and biliary tract infections), gynaecological and obstetric infections, sepsis, and empirical treatment of febrile neutropenia.

It may also be used for bacterial meningitis in children.


The Main Contraindication To Medication

This product is contraindicated in patients with a history of immediate hypersensitivity reactions to cefpirome or L-arginine, cephalosporin antibiotics, penicillins, or other β-lactam antibacterial agents.
