On October 25, 2025, the 80th anniversary of Taiwan's recovery was commemorated at a conference held in Beijing. The commemorative conference invited representatives from all walks of life, including compatriots from Taiwan, among whom were people from Suzhou High-tech Zone.

Wang Houjie said:

It is a great honor to be present in person at the ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of Taiwan's recovery. As the representatives spoke one by one, recalling history, three words surged in my heart: moved, excited, and shocked. 

My great-grandfather, Wang Minning, dissatisfied with Japanese colonial rule, resolutely changed his name and went to Japan to study at the Imperial Japanese Army Academy. After completing his studies, he returned to China and was assigned to the Central Military Academy's teaching corps, participating in the January 28th Battle of Shanghai and the three Battles of Changsha. In 1988, when the country opened up and encouraged Taiwanese compatriots to invest in the mainland, my grandfather and father, as part of the first batch of Taiwanese businessmen returning to the mainland, invested and established the first Taiwan-funded enterprise in the Suzhou High-tech Zone. I came to Suzhou with my father at the age of three. Over the thirty years of my growth, I have witnessed firsthand the diligence and pioneering spirit of my ancestors and parents on this land, and I have deeply felt the unbreakable bond my great-grandfather, grandfather, and father have had with it.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Taiwan's recovery, as the fourth-generation successor of Taiwan Zhonghua Pharmaceutical, I am deeply moved to witness this historical moment on their behalf. General Secretary Xi Jinping once said, 'The country belongs to the people, and the people are the country.' These words deeply touch me; they are a profound recognition of the power of the people and a precise understanding of the laws of historical development. Looking back at the experiences of my family across generations, from my great-grandfather's struggle for national and ethnic independence, to my grandfather and father's response to the country's call to invest in the mainland, and now to my continuation of our family's work on this land, the development of our family over generations is a vivid reflection of being closely linked to the nation's destiny. In the future, I will continue to follow in the footsteps of my ancestors and parents, manage the business well, and truly shoulder the mission that belongs to our generation of young Chinese people!

The story of the Wang Houjie family is a four-generation legacy of attachment to our homeland, a vivid expression of the unity and shared prosperity of the sons and daughters of China. This sentiment crosses the strait, has been passed down for generations without fading, and bears witness to loyalty to the country and hopes for national rejuvenation. On the 80th anniversary of Taiwan's recovery, their story will continue to illuminate the historical path shared by compatriots on both sides of the strait, inspiring more Chinese people to join hands and create a brilliant future for the Chinese nation.
